SPCA Pet Of The Week
“Buggs” is one of MANY cute kittens we have here at the Rockbridge SPCA. He is approximately 10 weeks old and shares a room with Bonkers, Bogo and Brett. Visit all the delightful felines at the Rockbridge SPCA, where the adoption fee on each cat or dog is just $25.

At LPD’s Back To School Celebration
The Lexington Police Department, in partnership with the Lexington Police Foundation, held a back to school event at Richardson Park Saturday. TOP LEFT, there were several bounce houses for the children, including this “Pirates of the Caribbean” themed one. TOP RIGHT, Officer J. Clark and Cpl. Lexington Considers Extending VHC Tax
At its July 20 meeting, Lexington City Council voted to hold a public hearing on extending the city’s portion of the Virginia Horse Center’s discretionary lodging tax, explicitly for the purposes of retiring debt that the horse center owes to CornerStone Bank. The hearing will be held at Council’s regular business meeting on Oct. 5.

Modine Donates School Supplies
Buena Vista teachers and staff gather to thank Modine Manufacturing for its donation this week of 150 backpacks, water bottles, and other school supplies for students in preparation for the upcoming school year. This is the first year the local manufacturing company has made this donation.
