Future Dog Park Site?
A proposal for a dog park on city-owned land between McCorkle Drive and the U.S. 11 bypass was made to Lexington City Council during a work session this past Thursday. Patrick Madigan and Thomas Wagner of the city’s Public Works Department made a presentation on a conceptual plan to develop the dog park on a long, narrow .2-acre strip of land. Preliminary cost estimates for the project, eyed for the spring of 2024, were estimated at $54,240. The project would include a 48-inch-high split-rail fence with wire fabric, posts and dual gates, signage, riprap around a slope and an adjacent paved parking lot. The consensus of Council was to have staff develop more detailed plans.

Collierstown Visit
When Santa came to visit Collierstown children on Dec. 9, he had to make a detour from the field across from the Effinger firehouse to the Collierstown Baptist Church because of rainy weather. However, children had lots of fun there meeting with him and participating in various crafts. The event was sponsored by the community churches. (Stephanie Mikels Blevins photos)

In The Park
It may have been raining, but that didn’t stop a number of area residents from turning out for Christmas in the Park at Glen Maury Park on Dec. 10. Among the scenes were (clockwise from above) Santa visiting with children; Becky Massie and Millie Sizer handing out treats; a youth group from SVU performing; and a local youth telling Santa what he wants for Christmas.
