Michael Anthony “Dirty Face” Chittum, 55, of Vesuvius passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023. 

He was born Oct. 8, 1967, in Rockbridge County, the son of Velma Allen Chittum and the Burton H. Chittum.

Dirty Face loved bear hunting, mushroom hunting, and gin-seng hunting in his spare time.

In addition to his mother, also surviving are brother, Delmas B. Chittum; sisters, Lisa Dudley (Hank Beverley) and Gina C. Hartless (Mikey); nephews, Michael Hartless, Nelson Conner, Christopher Hartless and Trace Dudley; niece, Cassidy Hartless (Matt); great nieces, Rayelynn Hartless and Ryleigh Tomlin; special friend, Summer Vance; his best friend, Marcie Reeves; many other cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.  Dirty Face also leaves behind his beloved hunting and companion dogs, Lightning, Girly Girl, Cali, Rambo and Ellie May.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Irish Creek Community Cemetery by Pastor Jay Thorne and Brother Dorsey Hostetter. 

Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
