Marlene Higgins Bennington, 76, of Lexington died Jan. 31

Marlene Higgins Bennington, 76, of Lexington died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, at CarilionRoanokeMemorialHospital.

Born Nov. 5, 1946, in Alexandria, she was a daughter of the late Emory W. Higgins Sr. and Julia Souza Higgins.

Marlene was a member of FaithMountainChurch and was a seamstress at Alvin Dennis and Leggett's Department Store for many years.

Surviving are her husband, Tommy Lewis Bennington; children, Lora Bennington Sigrist and husband Eric, and Aaron Neil Bennington and wife SJ; brother, Emory W. Higgins Jr.; sister, Carol Nair; and three grandchildren, Marisa Eden Sigrist, Soloman Ash Bennington and Walter Abraham Bennington.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William Thomas officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
