Guy Day Hartless Jr., 68, died July 16

Guy Day Hartless Jr., 68, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 16, 2023.

Guy Jr. was born on June 16, 1955, a son of the late Guy Day Hartless and Annie Elizabeth Hartless.

Guy was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart, first wife of 38 years, Linda Mull Hartless; an infant brother; brothers, David and Stevie; sisters, Lucy, Nancy and Patsy; and a great-niece, Hazel Ann.

Guy is survived by his loving wife, Sherri Hartless, who has stood by him through health and sickness for the past nine years; and his furry companion, Peter Lee. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, David Hartless (Dinah), Mandi McComas (Will), and Justin Hartless (Courtney); and a stepdaughter, Kayla Sholes (Joe).

Guy loved his grandchildren and each held a piece of his heart: Michael David, Daytona, Little David, David, Zack, Cody, Sadie, Sophie, Bentley, Jordan, Alayna, Kennedy, Lincoln and Nixon.

Guy is also survived by his brothers, Paul (Karin) and Jeffrey; sisters, Jackie (Danny) and Jenny (James); a sister-in-law, Dana (Monty); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Guy was passionate about his career with Lanford Brothers, where he served for over 40 years. There, his coworkers became family. We are certain Guy Jr. and Jr. Huffman are in heaven pouring a bridge together.

Guy loved the Lord, his church and “HIS” Pastor. He began his journey at Victory Worship Center in late 2020 where he became a member and was baptized by Pastor Ray Eppard on Nov. 14, 2021.

A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, by Pastor Ray Eppard at Victory Worship Center, 200 Hammond Lane, Staunton.

As Guy would say, “Everything will be alright. It will all work out.”

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family of Natalie Dodge to assist with travel and medical expenses (Venmo: @Andrew-Dodge-30 or PayPal: [email protected]) or Wreaths Across America.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.

Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.coffmanfuneralhome.net
