Monacan Pottery Demonstrations At W&L
Washington and Lee University will host Victoria Ferguson, interim director of the American Indian and Indigenous Community Center at Virginia Tech, for a Monacan pottery demonstration on March 10 and 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Reeves Museum of Ceramics.

New Flagpole For NBVFD
The Natural Bridge Ruritan Club recently donated a new flagpole, with Dark Sky-compliant lighting, to the Natural Bridge Volunteer Fire Department. Here club members close their February meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, along with members of the fire department. Club member Gary Barker, owner of Fatlighter Company, donated materials and handled the construction of the project. Brad Myers, with the club’s Public Service Committee, and Scott Hannah, with the Citizenship & Patriotism Committee, assisted.

On Taxes And Reassessments
Rockbridge County’s real estate tax rate may be lowered this year by 13 cents – from 74 to 61 cents per $100 value – which would put it at the lowest rate it’s been in many years. That doesn’t mean county residents will be rejoicing. Many, in fact, are up in arms over what they think is a back-handed way to raise their taxes – reassessments.
