Woods Creek Run Benefits Local Youths
The fifth annual Woods Creek Run 4 the Kids benefit race welcomed 59 participants on Saturday morning, raising funds to cover intensive therapy costs for two local youths with cerebral palsy, 7-year-old Riven Welch and 13-year-old Alyssa Cornwell, who were present at the event. The moderately hilly 4-mile race started and ended at Waddell Elementary School, going on the Woods Creek Trail to the historic Miller’s House Museum at Jordans Point and back. AT FAR LEFT, Runners start the race. AT NEAR LEFT, Sam Allen approaches the finish line. Allen, 46, won the race in 25 minutes, 49 seconds. AT BOTTOM LEFT,Asa Tuke (478) and Ryan McKenna (479) sprint to the finish line, placing seventh and eighth, respectively.AT BOTTOM CENTER, A volunteer hands a water bottle to Alyssa Cornwell. BELOW, Justin Clement, 46, makes his way to the finish line. Clement placed second in 28:34.59. A story will be in an upcoming newspaper.
