Wow, what a storm that rolled into town on Friday afternoon! Wind, rain and hail, downed trees, or tree limbs, moved outbuildings and even the porta-john at the Farmers Market moved about 4 feet. Most of the damage was located on Kanawha and Virginia streets and down towards the river. I only heard of one household being without power for awhile, which is amazing. I didn’t hear of any injuries due to the downed trees. The Randy Smith home on Virginia Street had a tree fall on part of his place. What the National Weather Service describes as a straight-line wind event toppled several large trees and blew over an outbuilding in Glasgow during the storm that went through the Rockbridge area Friday afternoon.
