In Tribute To Devin
In Tribute To Devin
A Lexington firefighter salutes as emergency vehicles from throughout Rockbridge and neighboring counties pass under a large American flag hoisted by ladder trucks from Lexington and Buena Vista in Goshen Monday afternoon. The emergency vehicle memorial parade paid tribute to the life of Devin Riley, 18, of Goshen, who had died in a single-vehicle accident on May 7, just weeks away from his graduation from Rockbridge County High School. Devin was a member of the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department, which asked local emergency responders to participate in the parade to escort his body from the Craigsville Funeral Home to Goshen for the funeral Monday. The funeral had been moved from Goshen Baptist Church to the town fairgrounds to accommodate the crowd, and was attended by many students and faculty from RCHS, which was closed for the day. More Thoughts On Gold Star Memorial
The consensus among folks who have commented publicly on Lexington City Council’s recent decision to approve a Gold Star Memorial is that they support the concept of honoring families in our community who have lost loved ones in military conflicts. Everyone appears to be supportive of the idea of such a memorial – just not necessarily at the proposed site at Jordans Point Park. 05/10/2023 12:00 AM
