For Smith

Oct. 2, 2023 Editor, The News-Gazette: Voters looking to improve Rockbridge County’s board of supervisors have a clear choice this fall: Mack Smith, farmer, businessman, and public servant to represent the Buffalo District.

Mack Smith requires no learning curve, and he will hit the ground running as supervisor. Mack’s past achievements as Buffalo District Supervisor include renovation and remodeling of county schools; completion of the county’s new courthouse; and increased funding for fire and rescue services. In the latter regard, Mack helped create and fund the Effinger Fire and Rescue service.

Always looking forward for Rockbridge and the Buffalo District, Mack Smith wants Rockbridge to maintain its rural culture, agrarian heritage and natural beauty and yet ensure there is economic growth and commensurate opportunity for youth. To this end, Mack will push for expansion of broadband services and supporting training for skilled labor to attract prospective businesses and employers.

As president of the Rockbridge County Farm Bureau, he tirelessly advocates for those who labor in Rockbridge’s oldest and largest economic sector. Currently, there are no farmers on Rockbridge’s board of supervisors. Time has come again for such experience and proven leadership. DOUGLAS N. SMITH Chairman, Rockbridge Area Republican Committee ROGER JARRELL Former Chairman, Rockbridge Area Republican Committee
