Rockbridge Ukrainian Efforts Continue

May 22, 2023 Editor, The News-Gazette: “Lexington is a gift that keeps on giving.”

Hosting Ukrainian Families (HUF) has received two very generous offers of financial support. The first is from Cabell Gallery’s owner, Susan Groves, wishing to donate all of her gallery’s proceeds resulting from the month of June sales of celebrated Ukrainian artist Tanya Broderick’s beautiful paintings. Susan’s wish is to support Ukrainian war refugees living in Lexington. The second offer is from the artist herself, with all of Tanya’s share of proceeds going directly to Ukraine “benefiting families in the front line.” What a wonderful combined outreach, with all proceeds benefiting Ukrainians who have found a safe-haven with us and many still living in war-torn Ukraine.

This outreach is very timely, as HUF does have continuing financial needs in supporting the Ukrainian family of Svitlana and Mykola Tysiachnyi now living in Lexington, plus the many relocating expenses for our first two families described in last week’s The News-Gazette.

Again, “timely,” as the three Ukrainian mothers have recently raised and sent funds to directly benefit Ukrainian families with food and medicine. These two efforts are dearly needed.

Along with our Ukrainians accompanying us, we will be at Tanya’s opening. We hope to see you, our friends and supporters, at Cabell Gallery, 5 W. Washington St., 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 2. JERRY NAY Director HostingUkrainianFamilies.org
