Nov. 14, 1973

Lexington City Council met in a special session to address the energy crisis. Council decided to light up only the central Christmas tree in the downtown. The other decorations would be displayed, but not turned on. - Buena Vista City Council instructed Mayor Shuler Kizer to issue a proclamation asking the city’s residents to follow the guidelines presented in President Nixon’s energy conservation speech. This included setting the thermostats in the municipal building between 65 and 68 degrees. - The Lexington High School Scarlet Hurricane beat the Parry McCluer High School Blues 68-6.

Neighbors of the McCrowell Farm who were upset about a developer’s plan to subdivide the 426 acre farm near Timber Ridge were relieved to hear that covenants would restrict any further subdivisions on the land. - Mitch Wapner, Cynthia Downes and their children were recipients of a Boxerwood Gardens Stewards of the Earth award. - Parry McCluer’s women’s volleyball team was headed to the state tournament.
