Marlbrook Players Offer ‘Classic Gems’

The Marlbrook Chamber Players will perform their favorite “Classic Gems” of the chamber music literature at 3 p.m. on March 19 in the Wilson Concert Hall at Washington and Lee University.

Each member of the group has chosen their favorite movement (or two) from the chamber music repertoire, and will share their connection to that work with the audience.

When programming a whole work, the balance of the entirety of the movements must be considered, including how the choices will compliment or tie together.

The Marlbrook Chamber Players were asked to forget the normal guidelines for programming and to instead focus on their very favorite movements. This concert promises to be a personal and heartfelt journey for each member as they share their thoughts and memories with the audience they have come to connect with over time as an extended family, a spokeswoman said. The Marlbrook Chamber Players are Megan Mason, viola; Anna Billias, piano; Jaime McArdle, violin and Julia Goudimova, cello.

This performance will also feature the accomplished returning guest violinist and professor from Southern Virginia University, Jakob Hofer.

Tickets are not required. The performance will be streamed online at livestream.com/wlu.
