Jody Gilbert has joined the Rockbridge Area Health Center as a licensed clinical social worker specializing in providing behavioral health counseling to patients 14 years of age and older.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Longwood College and a master’s degree in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University.

“I was attracted to the Rockbridge Area Health Center because of the emphasis that is placed on providing high-quality healthcare services that take into account the comprehensive needs of each patient,” said Gilbert.

As a behavioral health professional for over 30 years, Gilbert’s experience includes working as a medical social worker in hospital settings, and as an outpatient clinician working with adults with mental health and substance use disorder diagnoses. She utilizes a strengths-based approach with an emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapy and provides counseling for patients who struggle with life transitions, emotional regulation, low self-esteem, depression, trauma, family conflict, and those in need of crisis stabilization.

“Isolation during the pandemic reminded me that my fulfillment comes from connecting with others in a meaningful way,” added Gilbert. “I’m fortunate to work in a field where I have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of others.”
