GERDA SMITH

Gerda Annalize Heinze Koch Smith, 89, of Glasgow died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, at her home.

Born June 5, 1934, in Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Gerhard Koch and Margarete Heinze Koch.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Owen W. Smith, and daughter L. Karla Kirk.

Gerda was a member of Glasgow Baptist Church and retired as a secretary with the Mississippi school system. She was a member of the Wednesday morning knitting club and loved riding her motorcycle. At 67 years of age, she rode 4,000 miles from Mississippi through the western part of the U.S.

Surviving are her daughter, L. Karen Donovan and her significant other Frank Fitzgerald; five grandchildren, Michael, Sean, Patrick, Shannon and Lily; 11 greatgrandchildren and five greatgreat- grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
