‘Eyesore’ Should Be Cleaned Up

April 17, 2023 Editor: The News-Gazette As you travel westbound on U.S. 60, Midland Trail, nearing Lexington, just past the Goodwill store, there is an incredible eyesore of an abandoned house close to the roadway on the right side. The roof is crumbling, as well as the porch and walls, and the “yard” around the house is covered in litter and trash.

I believe that dwelling has been unoccupied for at least a couple years. It is one of the worst visual blights that I have seen in the area, and a shame it is on a main thoroughfare in to Lexington, as well as a serious safety hazard to anyone foolish enough to try to enter it.

Is there no agency within Rockbridge County that has the authority or spine to clean this eyesore up? DANNY HOEHNE Rockbridge County
