Former Virginia Military Institute superintendent Lt. Gen. Josiah Bunting III greets a guest at a ceremony last month recognizing his recent contributions to VMI’s archives. Twenty-six containers of Bunting’s papers, ranging from his time as a VMI cadet in the 1960s through 2020, were donated to VMI. Bunting served as VMI’s superintendent from 1995 to 2003 and oversaw the school’s transition to coeducation. For the story on his papers and his visit to Lexington, see page B7.
