City OKs Permit For W&L Health Center
Lexington City Council voted last week to approve a conditional use permit for Washington and Lee University to build a new student health center on East Denny Circle on the university’s campus. The permit had been presented to the Lexington Planning Commission at its Dec. 14 meeting, and the Commission voted 4-0 to recommend approval.

Shorthanded RC Girls Drop Three
The Rockbridge County High School girls basketball team suffered three lopsided losses, falling at home 66-31 last Tuesday to Fort Defiance, losing 83-40 to Valley District rival Spotswood on Friday and dropping an 82-20 road loss to Salem on Dec. 29. The losses extended RC’s losing streak to five games.

The Rockbridge County High School boys basketball team suffered a pair of losses last week, falling 81-48 last Tuesday at Fort Defiance before losing at home 83-40 to Spotswood on Friday. The Wildcats (1-11 overall, 1-3 Valley District) entered this week on a sixgame losing streak.
