Parry McCluer High School senior thrower Kamilah Richardson won the girls’ shot put while setting a new indoor school record at the Liberty Flames High School Invitational on Saturday at Liberty University.
Richardson, one of four PM throwers competing, narrowly won with a toss of 37 feet, 7.5 inches and qualified by distance for the Class 1 state meet, setting a personal indoor record by six feet and breaking the school record previously held by 2020 PM graduate Grayson Shields. In her third-place finish at the 2020 Class 1 and 2 state indoor track and field meet, Shields had a toss of 33-6.
Placing a close second to Richardson on Saturday was Dudley’s Kymari Barham with a toss of 37-7.25, while Lord Botetourt’s Alicia Holmes finished third of 71 individuals with a throw of 36-11.25.
Also throwing for the PM girls was sophomore Phoebe Wood, coming in 51st with a toss of 21-8.25.
Auburn’s Kobi Bonds won the boys’ shot put with a throw of 56-7.
Senior Rayshan Richardson led the PM boys, placing 20th of 75 throwers with a toss of 39-6.75. Junior teammate Vincent Wilson finished 40th with a personal-record of 3410.25.
The PM runners’ first competition of the season will be the Liberty High School Christmas Invitational on Saturday at Liberty University, starting at 9 a.m.
