Fourteen Parry McCluer High School football players received all-district honors last week.
The Fighting Blues, who went 6-5 overall and 2-2 in the Pioneer District under second-year head coach Jeremiah Brockenbrough, ended their season with a 52-14 road loss to Narrows in the Region 1C quarterfinals on Nov. 15.
Five Blues were named to the all-district first team. Senior Braden Conley was selected to the all-district first team offense and defense as a lineman. Senior Jackson Brockenbrough was chosen to the all-district first team offense as a running back and to the second team defense as a linebacker. Sophomore Parker Snider was selected to the all-district first team defense as a linebacker and to the second team offense as a wide receiver. Junior Jacob Shafer was named to the all-district first team defense as a defensive back and to the second team offense as a running back, while junior Nathan Glass was selected to the first team defense as a punter and to the second team offense as a quarterback.
Other Blues named to the all-district second team were senior placekicker Sean O’Connor, junior punt returner Jonavan Dunn, sophomore offensive lineman Tyler Chittum and senior all-purpose player Jase Barger, who was a running back and linebacker and stepped in at quarterback after Glass was injured in late October.
Blues receiving honorable mention honors, all for defense, were junior defensive back Zavion Dunn, defensive tackle Brendan Holdren and three sophomores: defensive end Kaedin Conner, linebacker Thomas Conner and defensive tackle Bobby Crowe.
