Jonathan K. Patterson was sentenced to life in prison in Buena Vista Circuit Court Friday for murdering his father Jay Patterson in February of last year.
He was also sentenced to 20 years on an arson charge, 10 of which was suspended.
A jury last December had found Patterson guilty of first-degree murder and arson after a two-day trial.
Friday’s sentencing hearing included comments from both Jonathan Patterson’s sister and Jay Patterson’s sister.
