Community Health Foundation Grant Recipients Announced

Rockbridge Community Health Foundation along with Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital, announce the funding recipients for their 2023 grant cycle. A total of $540,015.73 will be awarded to 25 different organizations, including our local hospital.

“It is a genuine privilege to make such a material investment in the health of our citizens.” said Bobby Hobbs, Chair of the Rockbridge Community Health Foundation.

“We are very excited to announce the grant recipients and projects funded this year,” said Tracy E. Lyons, grant committee chair and Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital board of director. “There were many projects this year that perfectly align with the mission of Rockbridge Community Health Foundation and the impact we are trying to make in the community. Seeing this impact, one project at a time, is very rewarding.”

Grant recipients for the 2023 grant cycle are as follows:

• Blue Ridge CASA for their Child Advocacy in Lexington, Rockbridge, and Buena Vista Program

• Boxerwood Education Association for their Tending our NEST Program

• Bridge to Hope Food Pantry for their Addressing Food Insecurity Programming

• Campus Kitchen (W&L Program) for their Backpack Program • Fellowship of Christian Athletes for equipment for their Rockbridge County FCA Power Camp Program

• Greater Rockbridge County Skateboarders Coalition for their Portable Skatepark Trailer Program

• Hoofbeats Therapeutic Riding Center for a Horse, Arena Upgrades, Horse medication, and Scholarships Project

• Jaclyn’s Hope for a Jaclyn’s Hope Health Care Scholarship Program

• Rockbridge Area Conservation Council for a Healthy Green Neighborhoods Collaborative Program

• Rockbridge Area Community Services for their Building Healthy Youth and Families in Rockbridge County Programing • Rockbridge Area Hospice for their Healthy Grieving Program • Rockbridge Area Relief Association for their Emergency Utilities and Heating Fuel Assistance Program

• Rockbridge Area Recreation Organization for their Timber Frame Pavilion at Brewbaker Program

• Rockbridge Area Transportation System for their Department of Rail and Public Transportation Local match Program

• Rockbridge County High School PTA for their After Prom Project

• Rockbridge Christmas Baskets for the Rockbridge Christmas Baskets Project

• Rockbridge Community Church of the Nazarene for their Celebrate Recovery Program

• Rockbridge Recovery for the Training and Education with Administrative Support Program and their Hope House Renovation Project

• Rockbridge Regional Jail for their Industries Program

• Shephard Program for a program called S.T.A.R. (Sensory- friendly Theater, Arts, and Recreation) Summer Camp

• The Community Table for the Rockbridge Area for the Purchase of Food

• Valley Program for Aging Services for Senior Transportation Expansion

• Virginia Institute of Autism for a Technology Provides Access for Students Program

• W&L ESOL Program for their ESOL Summer Program: Programa SOL (Summer of Learning)
