A dense fog advisory is in effect in Rockbridge County until around 11 a.m. Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service said visibility is down to one quarter of a mile or less.
Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous, the NWS said. Anyone on the roads is advised to drive slowly, use low headlights and keep a good distance from other cars.
The foggy conditions extend all the way to portions of southwest and west central Virginia and southeast West Virginia.
