A multi-car wreck shut down all southbound lanes of I-81 at exit 188B between Lexington and Buena Vista Monday morning, backing up traffic for around four miles, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The crash happened around 11:30 a.m.
Traffic was detoured off the exit at mile-marker 191.
VDOT said the crash was a “high priority” incident.
Photos taken by witnesses at the scene showed multiple emergency vehicles responding. Traffic was blocked for more than a half hour.
Rockbridge County Fire-Rescue Chief Nathan Ramsey said two vehicles were involved in the crash and no one was injured, despite reports circulating on social media.
The crash has since been cleared.
