Friday, Oct. 9 – The Parry McCluer High School football team posted a convincing 41-12 victory over Narrows in the Pioneer District opener for both teams in Buena Vista.
Brody Coleman rushed 29 times for 175 yards and four touchdowns for the Fighting Blues, who built up a 28-0 halftime lead and cruised on to their fourth consecutive win. PM (6-1) also snapped a four-game losing streak in the series against the Green Wave (2-4).
Parker Snider added 106 rushing yards on 21 totes, and he registered the Blues’ first two touchdowns of the night on runs of two and 14 yards in the opening period. PM led 14-0 after one quarter, and a pair of Coleman scoring plays – one on a 13-yard run and another on a 14-yard scamper – extended the margin to 28-0 by the break.
Narrows got on the board early in the third quarter when quarterback Parker Bryan dashed into the end zone from nine yards out to make it 28-6. But Coleman answered with a 7-yard scoring run at the 3:46 mark, and Quentin Rosser’s extra point pushed the lead to 35-6.
The teams again traded touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Bryan linked up with Elijah Knoetze on a 35-yard strike with 10:57 to play, and Coleman found the end zone for a fourth and final time on a 4-run yard with 2:58 to go.
The Blues will travel to Craig County for another district matchup next Friday, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m.
