The remnants of Hurricane Isaias could bring heavy rain and prompt flash flooding over parts of Rockbridge County towards the end of the week according to the National Weather Service.
Our area is at a marginal risk late Saturday into early Sunday for excessive rainfall of up 1-2 inches+.
“For most, this will be beneficial rains given the drought conditions, especially east of the Blue Ridge,” NWS officials wrote.
Hurricane Isaias formed in the Atlantic Wednesday night after rapidly intensifying. The storm is expected to reach near Category 3 strength before making landfall on the northern Gulf Coast, likely on the Florida panhandle, early Saturday morning. A life-threatening storm surge is expect from the mouth of the Mississippi River to Suwannee, Florida.
The storm will then track up the East Coast through the Lower Tennessee Valley over the weekend.
