The memorial service celebrating the life of Shirley Montgomery will be held tomorrow, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary at Oxford Presbyterian Church with a light reception following in the church social hall. Please continue to remember her family and friends in your prayers.
Also on Sept. 10, the mobile food pantry will be at the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department from 2 to 3 p.m. In addition to fresh produce and grocery items, backpacks with snacks and school materials will be available for families with school age children.
Oxford’s children’s Sunday school will pick back up on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. The adult class, led by the Rev. Segars, will be discussing “Spiritual Life in a Religionless World.”
The Forum at Oxford returns on Sept. 27 with guest speaker Jen Irwin. She will be sharing her experience on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage through France, Spain and Portugal. The Forum takes place immediately after the Sunday morning worship service.
Carol Hines has returned home after accompanying family to Boston where her granddaughter will be pursuing a degree at Simmons University.
Let’s also remember the many young people in our community who are preparing to participate in the upcoming agriculture and livestock shows at the State Fair in Doswell Sept. 25-Oct. 4. They work hard to represent us well and make us proud. ...
