Brain Injury Connections of the Shenandoah Valley (BICSV) is inviting middle and high school students across the Valley to put their creativity to work for a good cause.
The organization’s firstever Student Art Contest runs through Sept. 28, welcoming submissions from students in Augusta, Bath, Highland, Rockbridge, Rockingham, Page, and Shenandoah counties.
Students are encouraged to submit original artwork on the theme of Brain Health or Brain Injury for a chance to win a Dunkin’ gift card — and to see their design come to life on merchandise of their choice through Bonfire. The winning artwork will become BICSV’s primary design on its Bonfire store, creating an ongoing, passive source of revenue for the organization’s Critical Needs Fund, which helps brain injury survivors cover acute needs such as rent, utilities, food, and adaptive equipment.
The contest winner will be announced at BICSV’s client art show, held Oct. 2 at the Harrisonburg Hub during First Friday. The show features artwork created by BICSV clients reflecting their personal experiences with brain injury, and is presented in collaboration with the JMU Graduate Art Department and the JMU Creative Propulsion Lab.
