Ed Bordett will be featured for the month of September in “This and That,” a collection of serigraphs and paintings at Artists in Cahoots in Lexington.
Bordett’s collection involves local landscapes including House Mountain and scenes from travels ranging from Maine to Italy.
The public is invited to the opening reception on Friday, Sept. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m.
As a lifelong professional artist Bordett is both a painter and a printmaker. He is well known for his serigraph images that range from city scenes to beach venues, and Lexington downtown, among others.
The fine art serigraph process, also known as silk screen printing, involves pushing ink through a fine mesh screen onto paper or canvas applying each color through a different stencil layer. Each print can involve many stencil layers and for this artist that means sometimes upwards of 20.
His studio is a dedicated building located in the town of Fincastle, which used to be an auto dealership.
Bordett has been a member of Artist in Cahoots “long enough that I can’t even remember for how many years. Time goes faster than I can imagine,” he says with a laugh.
He is active in his hometown of Fincastle improving public green spaces and serving as policy advocate aimed to build and sustain a livable community.
