The village of Fairfield will hold Fairfield Heritage Day this Saturday, Sept. 5, to celebrate the founding of the village.
Established Sept. 4, 1798, when 25 deeds were registered at the courthouse in Lexington, Fairfield was one of several villages that were part of the Borden Grant.
Heritage Day activities will take place along North Lee Highway from Fairfield Presbyterian Church to Dottie’s Country Store.
A day to celebrate community and buy local, Saturday kicks off with breakfast and a bake sale at Fairfield Presbyterian Church beginning at 8 a.m.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., activities will include the farmers market, crafters, vendors and yard sales. Vintage vehicles, farm equipment and antique toys will also be on exhibit.
Fairfield United Methodist Church will be selling homemade ice cream starting at 10:30 a.m. and then a hot dog lunch at lunchtime.
Dottie’s Country Store (at the corner of Sterrett Road and North Lee Highway) will have some breakfast and lunch items available.
Shenandoah Kettle Corn and Firefly Coffee truck will also be set up.
Music around mid-morning will be provided by Betsy In The Verse.
History displays will be set up at Fairfield Presbyterian Church and 3 Seasons Antiques.
