High Bridge

Flowers in the sanctuary at High Bridge Presbyterian Church two weeks ago this past Sunday were in memory of Harris Drummond provided by his daughter, Nellie Finch. The week before, they were in memory of Helen Cash and provided by daughter Pam Lotts.

Rally Day will be held on Sunday, Sept. 13. Also, that day High Bridge reverts back to its regular schedule. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. and worship service is at 11.

The Presbyterian Women’s mission for the third quarter is Natural Bridge Elementary School. Betsy Shepard has a list of the items needed.

The annual church picnic and worship service at Cave Mountain Lake was enjoyed by everyone this past Sunday. The deacons barbecued chicken and the congregation brought sides and desserts. It was a time of good fellowship paired with good food.

The evening circle meets Sept. 1 with Garnette Teass at 6. with lesson overview by Faye Worley. The afternoon circle meets on Sept. 8 at the fellowship hall at 1 p.m.

On Sept. 9, Men’s Group will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. John Pollock will lead the Bible study.

WRE will meet Saturday, Sept. 5, at Beth Horon United Methodist Church at 6 p.m. All churches should send representatives and all those in the community who are interested are encouraged to attend.

The food pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, and close at 11 a.m. They welcome donations of dried beans and dried rice for the month of September. Also, empty egg cartons are appreciated.
