The crowd may have been small but the Relay for Life of Rockbridge County at Central Elementary Saturday was able to raise about $12,000 so far for the work of the American Cancer Society. The event began with the Survivor Lap (at left) and continued into the evening with the luminaria ceremony, which featured glowing paper bags in memory or honor of those touched by cancer and a “Hill of Hope” (for which volunteers are shown preparing below). A classic car show was also available for everyone to see. Anyone who would like to contribute to the local Relay and the American Cancer Society can do so by visiting RelayForLife.org/RockbridgeVA.
