Worship service is at 11 a.m. and adult Bible study is at 10. During the summer months, Oxford has been holding worship in the park on the third Sunday of the month. Our final worship in the park will be Sunday, Aug. 16, with a picnic following the service. Hot dogs and drinks will be furnished. Bring a covered dish and share in some summer fellowship with your friends and neighbors A headstone cleaning project is underway in the Oxford Cemetery, under the direction of Dennis Bussey, who has spent the last seven years cleaning thousands of historic headstones, using the same protocols as used at Arlington National Cemetery. Well over 100 headstones have already been cleaned at Oxford so far and volunteers will continue to be needed as this project progresses. Watch for future dates and contact information Currently Pastor Segers is leading a study on John Calvin during the adult Sunday School hour. Following that study we will be looking into Dietrich Bonhoeffer and aspects of his spirituality before reading his “The Cost of Discipleship” in the fall.
Oxford’s Sunday summer schedule RARA & the Campus Kitchen at Washington and Lee University are continuing the mobile food pantry at the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department the second Thursday of every month. The next one is scheduled for Aug. 13 from 2 to 3 p.m. It is open to anyone in the community. Do you have a neighbor or family member that is not able to get to the food pantry?
