The 28th annual Bank of Botetourt Beach Music Festival is being held this weekend at Glen Maury Park in Buena Vista.
There will be a Friday night pre-festival concert featuring Stone Country Records recording artist Spencer Hatcher, a native of Rockingham County who’s in the process of building a huge following. He’ll be performing from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission to the Friday night show is $10.
The actual beach music is being presented on Saturday with three highlyregarded bands – Too Much Sylvia at noon, The Tonez at 3 p.m. and perennial favorite Band of Oz at 6 p.m. All three bands are mainstays of the Carolina Beach Music scene.
Admission to the festival on Saturday is $20 per person, with children under age 12 admitted free with a paying adult. Tent gates open at 10 a.m., with general admission at 11 a.m.
Festival-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. The concert takes place under a covered pavilion so it will take place, rain or shine. There will be plenty of concessions available. Special camping rates will be in effect from Thursday through Saturday.
Mary Huffman, who has been helping organize the beach music festival since its inception, is continuing to be help with planning, though she says she is transitioning away from her involvement. Still, she and Millie Sizer of the Glen Maury Park staff were meeting last week to make lastminute arrangements for the festival.
