Unity4Kids will be holding a charity cornhole tournament on Saturday, Aug. 15, at Whistle Hollow Farm, 65 Whistle Hollow Lane, Fairfield. Check-in begins at 11 a.m. and competition kicks off at noon.
“The event is more than a tournament — it is a chance for the community to rally around its most vulnerable neighbors,” said Tammy Reid, founder and executive director of Unity4Kids.
Proceeds will directly fund Unity4Kids’ core programs: hot meal delivery to families in Buena Vista and Lexington, emergency financial assistance for households in crisis, holiday outreach and UnityReads, the organization’s literacy initiative that puts free books and resources into the hands of children throughout the region.
“So many families in our area are quietly struggling – one unexpected bill away from a crisis, one missed meal away from going to bed hungry,” said Reid. “This tournament gives our whole community a way to show up for them.”
The double-elimination tournament is open to teams of two at a $45 entry fee. Boards and bags will be provided. Prize payouts go to the top three finishing teams: $300 for first place, $200 for second, and $100 for third. Food, drinks, raffles and prizes will round out the day’s festivities. Registration closes July 11.
