Esther Pennington, 540-291-2629 Visiting church this past week was Jason and wife Hannah, their children Tucker, Katie and Ben Hannah from Grand Rapids, Mich. They were spending the weekend with Jason’s parents Scott and Becky Hannah. Also present, Doris Trussell of Fairfax who was visiting her sister Nancy. Paul Sydnor, our missionary, gave a presentation about his work in Turkey this past Sunday.
The Rev. Steve Willis will be absent for two weeks as he travels with his wife to attend her family reunion in Florida. Substituting this coming week will be the Rev. Marina Gopadze from Lithia.
The annual Independence Day church picnic will be held Sunday, July 5, after the service. Deacons will provide hotdogs and beverages and the congregation will provide sides and desserts.
Vacation Bible school will be held July 19 after worship at Cave Mountain Lake and ending at 4 p.m.
Sympathies to the family of Lynn and Ellen McCoy on the passing of Lynn’s mother, Betty McCoy, of Woodstock, who passed away on June 22. Also, to the family of Millie Beard’s brother, William “Frog” Hayslett who passed away last week.
Returning from a twoweek Abbott bus tour of Route 66 was Brenda Shafer and Cathy Ayers, and cousins Susan Wagner and Sandy Watts. There they saw several of local artist Mark Cline’s artwork.
The Natural Bridge/ Glasgow food pantry board members will celebrate their 30-year anniversary with an open house at 734 Mc-Cullough St. on July 18 between 2 to 4 p.m. The food pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, and close at 11 a.m. They welcome donations of pork and beans and other beans for the month of July.
