A lady that I had asked for better health prayers died on May 3 from pancreatic cancer. Her funeral was May 15, and I gave one of the eulogies to honor her. I had known her for 28 years. When my husband had cancer, her and her husband often brought food to us. When he passed, she told me things I needed to do as she had lost her first husband. But what really helped me get through her passing, was my granddaughter’s wedding. Lauren Cahall and her fiancé, Avery Smith, were married at sunset at Mimosa Farm in Waynesboro on May 14. It was a small, intimate wedding but with lots of love with family and friends. On May 16, they had their reception party at Basic Park in Waynesboro. They had a pasta and sauce bar, vegetable and fruit trays, various dips, cookies and drinks. Then later they had the cutting of the cake. All the food was delicious. They chose May 14 as Avery asked her to be his girlfriend in that date in 2015.
I also got to go to Yorktown to visit a friend from school. We went to Virginia Beach to visit a cousin of mine who turned 91, May 11. I had not seen her in 11 or 12 years. She still works at Roses four days a week and four hours each day. She celebrated 51 years at Roses in February. The next day we visited a cousin that I had never met but was told about on Facebook in Newport News,. I knew her mother, but hadn’t met her daughter before. It was a great visit and I hope to back one day to visit her and her husband. Then we made another stop in Newport News, to see my unclein- law. He and my Mom had the some birth date. He’ll be 96 in September. It was a sad but exciting May.
Please take time this week to pray for our nation, our state, our county, and the localities. Prayer for the leaders in each of these. I pray blessings to you all.
