On Sunday, June 7, members of the Union View Advent Christian Church will hold their annual picnic at 10:30 a.m. at Lake Robertson. It will be a day of fellowship, good food and fun. Following the picnic, a white elephant auction will be held to benefit the Penny Crusade that funds missionary work around the world. Members and community friends are invited to attend.
The Effinger Community Vacation Bible School will begin on Sunday evening, June 7, and continue through Thursday, June 11, at the Palmer Community Center with classes for children of all ages and for adults. This year’s VBS theme will focus on Psalm 23 exploring God as Shepherd, Guide, Comforter, Provider and King. Each evening will begin with supper at 5:30 p.m. followed by Bible study, music, art and recreation.
This year’s Vacation Bible School is being sponsored by the seven community churches ‒ Collierstown Baptist, Collierstown and Mt. Horeb United Methodist Churches, Collierstown and Oxford Presbyterian Churches, Rapps Mill Church, and the Union View Advent Christian Church.
The Collierstown United Methodist Charge held a joint worship service at the Mt. Horeb church on Sunday, May 31, celebrating Trinity Sunday. Following the service a time of refreshments and fellowship were enjoyed by those in attendance. The Rev. and Mrs. Daniel Montague were presented with a cake in honor of Rev. Montague’s birthday and their wedding anniversary.
The Effinger Ruritan Club would like to assist individuals needing health care and adaptive equipment while recovering from falls, surgery, and ongoing physical therapy. The club has for loan walkers, canes, wheelchairs and other adaptive items available at no charge.
