Glasgow

Carolyn Bradley (540) 570-0919

What kind of excitement can be found in a small town? First of all, the 611 passed through Glasgow on Monday morning on its way to Staunton. There was a “heads up” that it just left Roanoke, so this lady was determined not to miss it. I drove to the town shop and parked across the street for a clear shot. After an hour of waiting, she came rolling through and I got a still shot and a 15 second video.

Last week I took a bag of trash out to the trash can and decided to walk around my deck to check on some flowers I recently planted. I stopped in my tracks as about 8 to 10 feet ahead of me lay something in the grass that I didn’t want to see. My phone was in the house, so no photo. It was gray in color and wasn’t moving, and I couldn’t tell which end was the head, and wasn’t about to get closer to investigate. I slowly retreated and went in the house. About an hour later my neighbor behind me posted a photo of a very long black snake at her backsteps. Was it the same one I saw or are there two different ones? The neighbors took care of the black one because there are small children and pets there. The question is, is there another one lurking around?

Adult co-ed softball is back in Glasgow this year on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The flea market is doing well on Saturday mornings along Blueridge Road. They start about 8 and go until around 1 p.m. Come down, check them out, or set up yourself for free.
