Visitors at High Bridge Presbyterian Church this past Sunday were Charlene Worley and Tim Wilhelm’s daughter, Daisy, and her two children from Virginia Beach.
The Rev. Willis will take this coming Sunday off and the Rev. Marina Gopadze of Lithia will be guest speaker. She is the former pastor of Buchanan Presbyterian.
Starting this past Sunday, worship will begin at 10 a.m. for the summer months.
The Confirmation Class students joined the church this past Sunday, which was also Pentecost Sunday. New members are Aaron Black, Caroline Lotts, Julianne Lotts, Cora Myers, Madeline White and Preston White. Grandparents attending were Mike Lotts, Joanna Fainter, and Jim and Iva White of Meadowview. Daniel Reed will be confirmed at a later date.
Small Church meets Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Lesson will be led by Joe Hawes. Light refreshments will be served and everyone is invited to attend.
The Presbyterian Women’s birthday cake challenge will be held on the lawn Sunday, May 31, after the worship service. Donation votes will be placed for favorite cakes in order to assist worldwide missions. Also, the local PW mission for the second quarter is Lisa’s House. Donations can be dropped into the box at the narthex at church or delivered to Lisa’s House. Betsy Shepherd is the mission chairperson and will have a list of items needed.
The Men’s Group is taking a break this summer. They will pick back up in the fall with a study of the book of Thessalonians.
We welcome back Betsy Shepherd and her sisters Susan Englander and Rebecca Rubino. They drove across the country touring places of interest including several national parks. They also visited family on the trip, including a cousin in Albuquerque, Steve and Lynn Braford in California and Jeb Braford in Iowa.
The food pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, and close at 11 a.m. They welcome donations of peanut butter and jelly for the month of May.
