Work on the parking lot at High Bridge Presbyterian Church continues today, Wednesday, and the church requests that everyone avoid parking in the church lot during this time.
High Bridge observed Scholarship Sunday this past week. Daniel Reed was recognized for graduating high school and Caroline Lotts and Emmett Reed were recognized for graduating middle school. Elementary school graduates were Cora Myers, Kayla Thompson and Levi Thomas. A reception honoring all the graduates followed on the lawn after church.
Visiting this past Sunday was Ted and Kathy Hannah Durham from Roanoke.
Starting this Sunday, worship begins at 10 a.m. for the summer months.
The Confirmation Class students will join the church this Sunday which is also Pentecost Sunday.
The Christian Education Committee, led by Dwinnie Shafer, meets today, Wednesday, May 20, at 6 p.m. at Lea Braford’s. They will be making plans for fall Sunday school curriculum and activities.
The Session meets Sunday, May 21, after worship service.
Small Church meets Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Lesson will be led by Joe Hawes. Light refreshments will be served.
The Presbyterian Women’s birthday cake challenge will be held on the lawn Sunday, May 31, after the worship service. Donation votes will be placed for favorite cakes in order to assist worldwide missions. Also, the local PW mission for the second quarter is Lisa’s House. Donations can be dropped into the box at the narthex at church or delivered to Lisa’s House. Betsy Shepherd is the mission chairperson and will have a list of items needed.
The Men’s Group is taking a break this summer. They will pick back up in the fall with a study of the book of Thessalonians.
The food pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, May 21, and close at 11 a.m. They welcome donations of peanut butter and jelly for the month of May.
