Collierstown

Deborah Potter McCormick, (540) 463-7652 On Sunday, May 10, the Rev. Alan Adams led the 11 a.m. worship service at Collierstown Presbyterian Church. During the worship service the congregation’s children provided special music in honor of Mothers Day. The children also distributed special gifts to the women in the congregation. Following the worship service a photographer was available to take photos and make memories of mothers and families.

The Collierstown United Methodist Church will have a Mother, Daughter, Friend Banquet on Saturday, May 16, at 6 p.m. to honor the women in the church. A time of good food and fellowship has been planned for the evening.

Rockbridge CAN (Connect and Nourish) will host a professionally catered community dinner served dine-in style on May 20 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Palmer Community Center located at 1230 Blue Grass Trail.

The Effinger Community Vacation Bible School for the Buffalo and Collierstown communities will be held the week of June 7-11 at the Palmer Community Center. VBS will run from 5:30 to 8 nightly and offer classes for all ages. Families and area residents are invited to come for supper followed by Bible study, music, art, crafts and recreation. This year Vacation Bible School is being sponsored by the following community churches: Collierstown Baptist, Collierstown and Mt. Horeb United Methodist, Collierstown and Oxford Presbyterian, Rapps Mill and the Union View Advent Christian.
