Polish Pianist To Present Concert

Polish pianist Magdalena Adamek will present an evocative program of works by composers from her homeland on May 15 at 7 p.m. in Wilson Concert Hall at Washington and Lee University. Featured composers include Chopin, Szym anowka, Bacewicz, and Paderewski.

Dr. Adamek holds degrees from the Chopin Academy of Music (Poland) and the University of Alberta (Canada), and her discography includes five CDs on the Polish label Acte Prealable. Her projects have been supported by prestigious institutions such as the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies and the Kosciuszko Foundation of America.

Adamek is currently coordinator of Keyboard Studies and full-time piano faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she teaches applied piano, piano ensembles, accompanying while also collaborating with faculty and guest artists on stylistically and culturally diverse projects.
