April 6, 2026 Editor, The News-Gazette: A recent writer condemned me by name for a variety of things including being Irish due to my married name. My maiden name was Zuellner and my ancestry is German and yes, I married an Irish ancestry husband - so I’ll let you guess at the fun arguments we have!
The writer’s condemnation of me for my “Irish ancestry” goes to show you how Democrats are quick to condemn and hate others who do not think like them. I have read his and other letters of hate from others who hate Donald Trump.
Do I agree with everything Trump has done? No. Do I admire some of the things he has done? Yes. For example, he closed the border and made it hard for illegal aliens to flood into our country-- along with the illegal drugs that flooded our country. Yes, I am glad the border is sealed and Trump has truly conducted a war against drug traffickers.
I’m also glad he ended some 11 war conflicts around the world. Even though some were called “brush fire” wars in obscure countries but their dead are just as dead as soldiers and civilians in first world countries. In one case, India and Pakistan, involved a war with two nations with nuclear weapons on the border of China --picture mushroom shaped clouds! Trump did it so Democrats have to ignore this and instead attack ICE officials enforcing, not Trump’s laws, but immigration laws passed by both parties back when our borders were worth protecting and illegal immigrants were law breakers.
I could go on but maybe it is time Trump haters at least acknowledge some of the positive things he has done and avoid making comments about people you don’t even know. JAN LOWRY Lexington
