Cook, Kerr Receive Top Pioneer Honors

After going 10-0 in the Pioneer District during the regular season and winning its third consecutive district tournament title, the Parry McCluer High School boys basketball team had six players who received all-district honors following the Blues’ 55-54 home win over Narrows in the district championship game on Feb. 20.

In addition, fourth-year PM head coach Tyler Kerr was named Pioneer District coach of the year for the second year in a row.

Junior guard Langston Cook was named Pioneer District player of the year for the second consecutive year and was selected to the alldistrict first team. After the district tournament, through 23 games, Cook was leading the district with 28 points per game while averaging seven rebounds per game, 4.8 assists and 3.4 steals. On Feb. 12, Cook surpassed the career scoring record for the Blues. Through the district tournament, Cook had scored 1,485 points.

Other all-district first-team selections for the Blues were senior forward Nathan Glass and junior guard Jamier Jordan. Glass finished the tournament averaging 14 points per game, six rebounds per game, and 2.3 steals. Jordan was averaging 10.8 points per game and 2.6 steals.

PM sophomore guard Quentin Rosser was named to the all-district second team. Rosser was averaging 6.7 points per game, 3.7 assists and 1.6 steals.

Blues who were named all-district honorable mention were senior forward Sam Griffin and sophomore guard Brody Coleman. Griffin was averaging 3.3 points per game and three assists, while Coleman was averaging 4.9 points.
