Pianist Akiko Konishi, assistant professor of music at Washington and Lee Un ive r sit y, will perform a recital in Wilson Concert Hall on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 3 p m.
No tickets are required. The program features works by Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Granados, Brahms and Prokofiev, which were inspired by fairy tale and, mythical narratives. Highlighted creatures include gnomes, witches and gothic angels.
Konishi describes the literature as “colorful and varied” and explains that “the program will have sparkling showpieces as well as compositions with a darker character … I had a wonderful experience putting this unique program together and hope the audience enjoys it too.”
