Rockbridge Regional Library in Lexington will host R.L. Hinnant, a well-known local contractor, designer and author, on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 5:30 p.m. As a bonus, Ainsley Bloomfield, the illustrator for Hinnant’s books, will show her works and recent children’s book.
Hinnant has lived and worked in the Rockbridge area for many years and shares both personal experiences and professional expertise in two books, one a collection of mostly humorous short stories and the other a valuable guide for individuals wanting to build a home or to hire a professional builder.
In “True Tales of Fun and Adventure,” Ric, as he’s known by friends and colleagues, recounts lifelong true adventures, ranging from outdoor sports to service in the military. Originally written to share with friends and family, encouraging feedback convinced him to publish for a wider audience.
His second book, “Let’s Build That Dream House! Understanding the process, a non-technical guide,” is a resource for anyone thinking about building a home.
Hinnant said, “Building a home is like putting together a giant puzzle. You’ve got a vision for the finished product, but there are thousands of pieces to gather and place correctly. This guide is your blueprint, helping you navigate the complex process from start to finish.”
He’ll take questions and comments; both books are available for checkout from the Rockbridge Regional Library System.
