If Harris Had Won Presidential Election

Jan. 22, 2026 Editor, The News-Gazette: Let’s consider some things that might have made 2025 different in a Harris administration: The Epstein files would likely have been released.

The criminal trial of the former president would have begun.

No DOGE. The insurrectionists would continue to be held accountable for their actions on January 6, 2021. Those in prison would still be in prison.

Her cabinet and senior adviser positions would have been filled by serious, competent, experienced public servants, rather than the feckless clowns that are there now.

Some 600,000 of the poorest people in the world (two-thirds of them children) would have received food, clean water, and medical care through USAID. Instead, they died because USAID was dismantled.

The East Wing of the White House would still be standing.

President Harris wouldn’t have demeaned herself, her office, and her country by whining because she didn’t receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

Our country would be operating under the rule of law.

The storm troopers (if they look like storm troopers and act like storm troopers ...) wouldn’t be terrorizing American cities, legal immigrants, and American citizens.

The 44 people who died while in ICE custody would be alive.

The wars that were going on when she took office would likely still be going on, just as they are now.

There would have been deportations (after due process) and no American citizens would have been detained.

Twenty-six people (six died) wouldn’t have been shot by DHS agents in 2025.

President Harris would have distinguished our friends from our enemies, and acted accordingly.

More than 170 American citizens wouldn’t have been mistakenly detained and/or deported by ICE/DHS.

The enemies of the people wouldn’t be in the White House.

Juan Hernandez (Google him) would still be in prison and Renee Nicole Good would be home with her family. HOWARD PENDLEY Raphine
