After a two-year hiatus, Lexington’s Christmas parade returned to an enthusiastic crowd of onlookers lining the streets from Wallace down to the corner of Main and Jefferson.
- The Rockbridge area’s jobless rate plummeted to 12% after months of hovering between 15 and 20%. - The Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to pay $3000 for an option on the Robert E. Lee Hotel, which was being considered for use as a jail.

The Rockbridge County School Board appointed Scott C. Fleshman as acting principal at Natural Bridge Elementary School. - Serious discipline infractions were on the rise in the upper grades at Rockbridge County schools. Some of the reported cases involved substance abuse and possession of weapons on school property.
- Lifelong Lexington resident Desmond Radclift “Raddy” Jackson died at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital. He was 92.
