Nov. 26, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: Bizarre. Mr. and Mrs. Lowry are outraged by “bad behavior” of the audience for Cline’s appearance, Cline silent about Trump’s outrages.
Yet, they were not only silent but supported and continue to support a convicted criminal now president. Silent about his 34 felonies, stealing from his own charity, running a fraudulent university. Silent about him paying off a porn star. Silent when he moved convicted sex trafficker and rapist Ghislaine Maxwell to a country club penal facility and openly discussed pardoning her.
Silent when criminals who assaulted the capital were pardoned. Silent when government prosecutors were fired for not bringing cases that had no merit against political enemies. Silent about his masked storm troopers using racial profiling and deporting U.S. citizens. Silent about him denying Fifth Amendment due process to people arrested. And lying about it. Silent about him separating parents from children. Silent about him deporting people to Africa. Silent about a clear pattern of firing women and people of color. Silent about him taking orders from internet conspiracy nut Laura Loomer and firing the head of U.S. intelligence operations.
Silent about him illegally imposing tariffs. Silent about illegal acts of war. Silent about bogus claims of civil disorder, to violate states’ rights by sending in National Guard troops. Silent about ICE, his personal army, receiving more money than the Marines!
Silent about his billion-dollar violations of the emoluments clause of the Constitution.
Silent on Trump’s election interference in Georgia, his illegally possessing classified documents, lying about it, hiding them, ignoring a subpoena — all criminal acts.
Do Mr. and Mrs. Lowry’s think party affiliation excuses them from condemning a pathological liar?
Since he willfully ignores the unconstitutional behavior of Trump, Mr. Lowry’s behavior as a column writer is not that of an honest broker. He is a party hack and should resign. JOE PETITE Rockbridge County
